The Wings of Discovery® Kindergarten Resource provides flexibility of programming using new, discovery-based activities with related connections to language and mathematics. If used as recommended, the resource meets close to 100% of science and technology curriculum requirements for each province and territory in Canada.
The Resource

Go, Toys, Go! In this Learning Unit, students will investigate a variety of toys as a way of learning about sources of energy. They will develop their understanding of energy sources by exploring and safely operating familiar toys that use a variety of energy sources, including batteries, moving air and elastic bands.

Why Live Here? In this Learning Unit, students will investigate why animals live where they do. They will develop their understanding of animal habitats and animal needs by exploring real and model animal habitats and by pretending to be various animals.

Sensational Plants In this Learning Unit, students will investigate plants using their five senses. They will develop their understanding of the characteristics and needs of plants by exploring and caring for live plants in the classroom.

Healthy Me! In this Learning Unit, students will investigate several major body parts as a way of learning about personal health and disease prevention. They will develop their understanding of what it means to be healthy by comparing good and poor physical and dental health and learning about the roles of doctors and dentists.

Insect Investigators In this Learning Unit, students will investigate insects as living things. They will develop their understanding of insects by observing exploring live insects in their natural habitats, as well as role-playing insect behaviour.

Symphony of Sound In this Learning Unit, students will investigate a variety of objects from the world around them as a way of learning about sound. They will develop their understanding of how and why sound happens by exploring how familiar objects, including musical instruments, make sound.
